ADENOID REMOVAL SURGERY

The adenoid is lymphatic organs located in the posterior wall of the nostrils. Although it is present in all children, it does not give evidence in every child. Often findings related to adolescent flesh occur after 2 years of age, rarely seen in children under 2 years of age. It can grow excessively due to genetic, allergic body and frequent infections and cause complaints to appear.

The most common complaint due to adolescent flesh is obstructive sleep apnea that develops in children. Healthy night sleep in children is indispensable for growth and development. Growth hormone is secreted during healthy sleep. Adults with large adolescent flesh may cause open mouth sleep, snoring and sleep breathing in children.

For this reason, it impairs growth and development in children by impairing sleep quality. In the long term, it may cause disruptions in the face and palate structure, therefore, the appearance of fish mouth and orthodontic tooth problems. In addition, since the vent of the middle ear is through the nasal, recurrent middle ear infections and treatment-resistant effusion (fluid accumulation) can be seen in the middle ear. Problems with the ear may result in permanent hearing loss if not treated early in the temporary period.

The operations are performed under general anesthesia and the patient does not feel any pain during the operation. It is an operation that takes an average of 10 minutes, is performed orally, and no visible cuts or stitches are applied. If necessary, it can be done with tube insertion in the same session or with tonsil surgery.

The child can go home after a few hours of observation after the operation. It is recommended to feed with liquid and soft foods for three days. Again, a few days after the operation, the child can return to his normal life completely. If done together with tonsil surgery, it is appropriate to feed with soft foods for a week. If a tube is attached to the ears simultaneously, it is appropriate to use ear plugs that prevent water from escaping for a few months.
