TONSILLECTOMY
Tonsil surgery (tonsillectomy) 5 times a year, 4 times in a row for two consecutive years or 3 times in a row for three consecutive years or more, having tonsilitis attacks (tonsillitis) or having a large degree of sleep (grade 3 and above) and related breathing during sleep It is applied in patients with problem and sleep apnea. It can be done safely in children 2 years and older. It is not recommended unless there is a serious imperative for younger children.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 15 minutes. It is made with heat energy with the help of a special tool called Thermal Welding. The advantage of this method is the absence of bleeding during surgery, minimal pain after surgery and faster recovery. If the child gasket has adenoid problems, it may also have adenoid surgery in the same session. If the adult patient has obstructive sleep apnea, small tongue and soft palate surgery can be performed in the same session.
The patient can go home a few hours after surgery. Wound healing takes about 1 week. It is recommended to consume liquid and soft foods for a week. The risk of bleeding after surgery is very low.
